Dumka/Godda (By our correspondent): The Santhal Pargana was hit by two major incidents of loot in which the dacoits managed to make away with money having a combined value of about Rs 38 lakh. Armed masked dacoit stormed into the Punjab National Bank located on the Dumka-Bhagalpur main road under Town Police Station area of the district and on gunpoint took the employees
hostage and decamped with the cash worth about Rs 35 lakh.
Assistant Manager Sarita Kumar later alerted the police and registered an FIR at the police station. Upon receiving information a police team lead by SDPO Pujya Prakash reached on the spot and inquired into the incident. Police has also recovered the CCTV footage from the bank and was trying to trace them out.
Sarita Kumari told policemen that there are no security guards in this branch and today instead of 10 only 5 employees were present. She said apart from Rs 31 lakh from the cash counter the dacoits also looted another Rs 4 lakh from the vault and fled.
