Sahibganj (By our correspondent): Chief Minister Raghubar Das held a high-level review meeting over the development works being
executed in the Sahibganj district and issued necessary instructions to the officials concerned. Reviewing the progress of the health
the department he collected information regarding institutional delivery, 108 ambulance service and other health parameters. He also directed to ensure that all welfare schemes are completely implemented in the tribal-dominated villages and also asked the DCs to form more women self-help groups.
He also asked to accord more focus on the development of the tribal areas. Over the power scenario in the district, he said that the officials should make sure that power reaches in their homes by December 30 and asked the executive engineer to hold a weekly review. On the promotion of organic farming, he directed to identify the spot for establishing the cluster and said that the help of agriculture scientists should be taken to further encourage farming in the area. Mr Das directed the district agriculture officer to encourage people to take agriculture as an occupation. He said that the farmers who had gone to Israel should teach other farmers the techniques which they learnt during their visit so that production can be increased in the Santhal Pargana region.
The Chief Minister said that the farmers of ST community and poor would be provided farm equipments on cheaper costs. In the course of the meeting, the Chief Minister also directed to form the district poultry society which would increase poultry in the area and also stressed on the need to encourage people to take up goat rearing, dairy and directed to launch two schemes each in every block of the district. He asked the district programme manager of JSLPS to conduct a special drive to link the women to dairy and form women milk cooperatives in the villages.
