14 Paharias rescued as two human traffickers from West Bengal nabbed in Pakur

Pakur (By our correspondent): Police has arrested two human traffickers and rescued 14 members belong to the primitive Paharia tribe who were being trafficked to Bangladesh. Addressing a press conference here Pakur SP Shailendra Prasad Barnwal said that police had received a secret tip-off that dozens of labourers from Littipada block in the name of providing jobs were being taken to Bangladesh after which a team under SDPO Ashok Kumar Singh was formed.

The team conducted raids at Ambedkar Chowk under Town Police Station area of the district headquarters and arrested two human traffickers identified as Abdul Kadir and Mantu Sheikh who hail from Kaliyachak under Malda Police Station area of the neighbouring state of West Bengal and rescued from them 14 men of the Paharia community. He said that the arrested have confessed to their crime.

All the rescued hail from Kumarbhanja and Teerkuni village of Littipada block. The SP said that the rescued would be handed over to their respective families.
