Jharkhand gets first confirmed corona case

Ranchi: Jharkhand has also come under the influence of coronavirus as the first case has been confirmed in the state on Tuesday.

“There is one confirmed case of coronavirus in the state,” said Nitin Kulkarni, Jharkhand health secretary to IANS.  

According to sources in health, the first confirmed case is of a girl. She had visited Malaysia. The infected girl has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Ranchi.

Till now 274 samples of suspected coronavirus have been taken and 266 reports have been negative and one positive. The report of rest seven are awaited.  

The Jharkhand health department has put up a 557-bed isolation ward for coronavirus patients. Out of these 96 are in Medical Colleges, 200 are in Sadar Hospital and another 261 in private hospitals. The state has also prepared 1,469-bed quarantine centres.


In India, more than 1400 people have been tested positive and 45 death has been reported due to coronavirus.
