Weather might turn a spoil sport in New Year’s Celebrations

Ranchi: The weather might turn out to be a spoiler as far as the new year celebrations in the state are concerned as in many areas rainfall has been predicted by the weather department.

On December 31, the entire state remains under the cover of fog.

Director of the regional MET department SD Kotal said that on January 1 the state will remain under the cloud cover and in some places thundering coupled with rainfall might take place whereas on January 2 at a couple of intervals rainfall might take place.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours the minimum temperature in Ranchi declined by 2.4 degree celsius while the maximum temperature dipped by 0.3 degree celsius.

Dr Kotal said that in northern regions of the state cold day or severe cold day was observed and a cold wave was also reported. He said that in many areas light to medium fog cover was reported.

The weather department in its predictions for January 2 has said that lightning and thundering also may take place in some of the regions while on January 3 also the weather will remain bad.

The temperature is also expected to rise by a couple of points while in one of two places light to medium density fog will be witnessed.
