
Ranchi: Justice (Dr) Ravi Ranjan took as the 13th Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
In a function held at Birsa Mandap of the Raj Bhawan Governor Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Justice. Chief Minister Raghubar Das was also present on the occasion
Prior to his appointment as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Justice, Ravi Ranjan was serving in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan was born in Patna On December 20, 1960.
He did his MSc in Geology from Patna University and LLB from Patna Law College of Patna University in the year 1989. After passing out from MSc he was engaged by the civil engineering department of the Bihar College of Engineering as a part-time lecturer.
Upon completion of his LLB he joined the Patna High Court in the year 1990. He was later appointed as the Additional Standing Counsel in the Patna High Court by the Union Government from October 1997 to June 2004. In the year 2008 he was elevated as the Additional Judge of Patna High Court and on January 16, 2010 he became a permanent judge in the Patna High Court.
Justice Ravi Ranjan also went on to serve as acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court for brief spells from September 9 to September 11, 2018 and November 2 to November 16, 2018.He has also been a member of General Council of NLSU, Bangalore.
