
Ranchi: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kripanand Jha said that the process of filing of nominations for the first phase has commenced in the state for 13 assembly seats.
Addressing a Press Conference here he said that as per the provisions of the Election Commission of India any person who has his name in any assembly area in the voter list can purchase the nomination paper and file the same however his or her proposers should be the resident of that particular assembly area only.
He said that it is important to have one proposer from a recognised political party wear as for candidate of non recognised political party 10 proposers are a must.
He said for the candidates hailing from the general category the security deposit has been fixed at Rs 10000 while those for the SC and ST candidates the security deposit has been fixed at Rs 5000.
He said that the amount can be deposited before the electoral officer or assistant electoral officer or in RBI or in the treasury through cash however security money through cheque or Bank drafts will not be accepted.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that any candidate can maximum file his nomination papers in four sets however the security money will be deposited only once and if any candidate files his nominations in more than four sets then the additional nomination papers will not be considered.
He said that at the time of filing the nomination paper in the room of the electoral officer maximum 5 people are allowed to enter and only three vehicles are allowed within the radius of hundred metres of the office of the electoral officer during the process of filing of nominations.
Mr Jha said that a day after filing the nomination paper for election expenses a candidate has to open a separate bank account and will have to share the details of the account with the electoral officer at the time of the filing of the nomination papers in writing.
He said that if any candidate has pending bills related to housing water supply electricity telephone and transportation then he should mention the same in the affidavit along with the nomination papers.
