Two security personnel killed in gun battle with Maoists

Ranchi: Two jawans of the Jharkhand Jaguar were killed in an encounter with the ultras of the CPI Maoists which took place on the bordering areas of Ranchi and Kunti. district.

Police had received a piece of secret information regarding the movement of the Maoist in Dakpidi forest located on the boarding areas of Ranchi and Khunti district. After the villagers informed the police a team of the Jharkhand Jaguar was sent to the area.

Upon seeing the security personnel the Maoists opened fire following which a gun battle took place between the two sides between 0400 hours- 0500 hours. In the encounter, one of the jawans died on the spot while another one who had sustained serious bullet injuries died while being treated at the Medica Hospital.

The martyred jawans have been identified as Akhilesh Ram of Kundi village under the Lesliganj station area of Palamu District and Khanjan Kumar Mahto a resident of Chainpur village under Sonahatu police station area of Ranchi district.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has offered his deep condolence over the martyrdom of a couple of jawans during the encounter which had taken place near the Dasham Falls.
