
Ranchi: Under the Swachh Bharat Mission in political leadership the efforts of Chief Minister Raghubar Das has been appreciated in the book titled ‘The Swachh Bharat Revolution’ which recounts the experiences of the people associated with the campaign for the last five years.
The book has been forwarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the first chapter, the write up of Chief Minister Raghubar Das has been included and the book has been edited by Union Secretary of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Parmeshwaran Iyer.
In the project building, the book was presented by Secretary of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Aradhana Patnaik which has been specially sent to the Chief Minister.
In the book the Chief Minister has written as to how with the participation of the people the campaign was made a success in the country. He wrote that for the first time woman masons were involved in toilet construction and also dwelled on the interesting paintings on the walls. Jharkhand in 2018 under a campaign 15 lakh women were involved to construct 3.5 lakh toilets and similarly in June in 11 days one lakh toilets were built in rural areas.
The Chief Minister wrote that when he had come to power than 80 per cent population in the state did not have access to toilets which caused many diseases to the people. He said that the women and girls use to face lost of problems due to lack of toilets and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took note of this problem and as the Mukhya Sevak of the state he got the administration involved to make the people free from this problem.
He wrote that it was big distance for the state to convince two crore people to come out of their traditional thoughts and encourage them to use toilets. He said that cleanliness was not just to clean the toilets but also make a healthy and clean Jharkhand. He said that in every district and village there are cleanliness officials who ensure that people use toilets.
He wrote that as per the environment of the state pit toilet construction was encouraged in the state as it was also easy to maintain and to tide over the issue of masons 70,000 women were provided training and made them woman masons apart from that 38,000 women were assigned the task to act as motivator to create awareness among the people to use toilets.
He wrote that on 19th of every month in schools, anganwadi kendras and health care centers Swachhata Diwas is celebrated and on 2nd day of every month Swachhata Sabhas are organised at panchayat level.
He wrote that a promise was made that the state will be made ODF free before 15 November 2018 and this success was received due to political leadership of the Prime Minister as all possible help was extended to the state government by the centre. He wrote that by inspiration of the Prime Minister and enthusiasm of 3.25 crore people of Jharkhand the state will play a vital role in ODF plus mission.
