Daltonganj: Sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau have arrested an assistant sub-inspector posted at Pandu Police Station area of this district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4500.
The arrested has been identified as Santosh Kumar. The policeman was taking the bribe to manage a case of eve-teasing. He was taken by the ACB to Medninagar from where he was forwarded to judicial custody.
ACB official said that a girl had filed a complaint of eve-teasing at Pandu Police Station on September 25 and Santosh Kumar was made the investigating officer in the case.
Despite the family of the boy against whom the case was leveled and the villagers claiming that he was innocent the policeman kept pressuring for a bribe or else threatened to send the boy to jail.
Later the father of the boy registered a complaint with the ACB. Post the verification of the complaint a trap was laid and the policeman was caught as soon as he accepted the bribe.
