Opposition and ruling benches indulge in blame game as JMM boycotts special session of Jharkhand Assembly

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha which is the main opposition party in the state boycotted the special session of the Jharkhand Assembly which was convened after the new building of the Vidhan Sabha was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 12.

Earlier addressing a press conference at his residence Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren said he said that the state government had inaugurated the building of the new Vidhan Sabha in a hurry for taking advantage during the assembly polls for which all rules and regulations were set aside. He said that it will still take another couple of months for the building to get ready but despite that OK certificate from the municipal corporation was taken.

Hemant said that since he did not want to become part of the inauguration of the building which has been done by obtaining a fake certificate, therefore, he did not go in the inauguration ceremony and also is not participating in the assembly. He also went on to allege that for the special session neither the Speaker or the Parliamentary affairs minister had spoken to him or sent him an invitation.

The matter was also raised during the assembly session with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda raising the issue of the absence of the Leader of the Opposition in the house. On the other hand, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Rai too raised questions over the absence of the opposition however he also put the onus on the state government and suggested that efforts should have been made to convince the opposition to be present on this historic day.

Mr Rai said that absence of the Leader of the Opposition will be missed whenever the history will be written and said that all battles are not fought just for the sake of winning but some are also contested to see as to who fights till the last. JVM(P) MLA Pradeep Yadav too raised the issue and said that the ruling benches should have tried to correct the flaws and should have invited the Leader of Opposition.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das who was the last speaker of the day in his speech said that in politics there is good to have rivalry and competition but one should not have competition from the building which is the symbol of belief of the people.

He said that Neelkanth Singh Munda contacted the personal secretary of Hemant Soren twice and he would have gone to his home to personally invite him had information regarding his presence was shared with the minister. Mr Das said that at the government level invitation for the programme was sent to all the former Chief Ministers of the state.
