4 injured in bloody clash over blasting for mining near residential area in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: Four persons including three women were injured in a bloody clash between local people and Devprabha outsourcing company security staff over blasting for mining coal in area 10 of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Kujama colliery under Ghanudih OP around 11 km away from district headquarters.

In the clash, four people including three women were injured badly and were admitted at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH). The condition of Jagdish Bhuyan is said to be critical.

The officer-in-charge of Ghanuadih OP Pawan Kumar said that the incident occurred at around 1 pm.

Local residents of Mohribandh alleged that following heavy blasting for mining, pieces of heavy stones fell on a large scale on their houses. When they went to the outsourcing company for a protest, its staff attacked them with sticks and iron rods on them in which several residents were injured. As local residents reached in large numbers, outsourcing staff fired six rounds on them.

Having seen the tense situation sindri SDPO Bhupendra Raut, Jorapokhar Inspector Usha Rani, Ghanudih OP in-charge Powan Kumar reached the spot and controlled the situation. SDPO Bhupendra Raut said a clash happened but there was no trace of firing and a probe is being conducted.

In protest of the incident, local residents of Mohribandh blocked Ghanudih main road demanding the arrest of outsourcing company operators and staff. Jharia Cong MLA Purnima Singh also jumped in support of residents and sat on Dharna demanding legal action against the outsourcing company operator.

BJP senior leader Ragni Singh reached SNMMCH to meet injured persons of the clash and assured them of support in getting justice from the outsourcing company for assault.
