Judiciary is responsible for safeguarding the 'rule of law' and ensuring the supremacy of law: Governor

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that Judiciary is responsible for safeguarding the “rule of law” and ensuring the supremacy of law Speaking during the inauguration of the new High Court building he extended his best wishes to the entire family of the Jharkhand High Court today for getting this magnificent new building. He also expressed his gratitude for the gracious presence of the President and Chief Justice of India Dr Justice DY Chandrachud.

He said that we all know our democracy has three pillars the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. The judiciary is responsible for safeguarding the “rule of law” and ensuring the supremacy of law. The court protects the rights of individuals, resolves disputes according to the law, and works to provide justice to the people. The judiciary is the temple of democracy, where people go for justice. People have faith in the judiciary and respect the decisions given by Courts.

The Governor said that this new High Court building is the largest high court building in the country, built with a vision for the next fifty years. This gigantic building is not just a physical stone-and-mortar structure; it represents the essence of our democratic values, the cornerstone of a just society and it symbolizes the ideals of fairness, impartiality, and the rule of law, which are the pillars upon which our democracy is built.

I am glad to say that this institution has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals seeking justice and has played a crucial role in shaping our state. Here, the rights and liberties of our citizens are safeguarded, disputes are settled, and the oppressed find solace and redress.

He also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the legal fraternity in the pursuit of justice. With their knowledge, skills, and unwavering dedication, lawyers play a pivotal role in upholding the principles of justice. Through their tireless efforts and advocacy, the voices of the marginalized and oppressed find resonance within these very walls. He said that there is a need to pay serious attention to speeding up the judicial process. The dispensation of justice should not be delayed; as rightly said, “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

We must explore avenues to enhance the efficiency of our judicial processes, adopt modern technology, and streamline our procedures to ensure speedy justice for all. He said that he was confident that the Jharkhand High Court, with its judges and dedicated legal professionals, will continue to be a bastion of justice, adding trust and confidence among the citizens of our state and guiding its path toward justice for all, particularly the poor and downtrodden.
