Amid lock down subdued Ramnavmi Celebrations in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The festival of Ramnavmi was celebrated much silently and only inside the homes of the people due to the lockdown declared against Coronavirus.

Ramnavmi is celebrated as the occasion of birth of Lord Ram. However, due to Coronavirus the celebrations in the state were rather subdued with the cities of Ranchi and Hazaribagh who have became famous across the nation for their grandeur in celebrations of the festival wore a deserted look.

Some of the devotees who did happen to turn up at the temples were spotted maintaining social distance while flags on the occasion were also sold very less in the city. Due to Coronavirus the various Puja organising committees had this year cancelled their plans to take out procession on Ramnavmi which resulted with just a handful of people turning up at some of the temples in the capital.

Devotees though few in numbers did reach at the Hanuman Mandir on the main road and at the Tapovan Mandir but they had to only perform Puja from outside as the doors of the temples were closed or in few they were allowed to pay obeisance from outside.

It was the first instance in the last 282 years history of Tapovan Mandir located at Niwaranpur that doors of the temple remained shut in Ramnavmi. It has been decided to keep the doors of the temple closed till the next order of the government.

However, the lockdown did not prevent the people from performing the Puja in their homes and putting up flags having pictures of Lord Hanuman popularly know as Mahaviri Patakas on their rooftops, courtyards or place of worship.

The day also coincides with Mahanavmi of Chaitra Navratri during which also offered obeisance to Goddess Durga.
