Ranchi: A mega function will be organised on Monday at the Prabhat Tara Grounds of the state capital to declare the merger of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) led by former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi with the BJP in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present.
State general secretary of BJP Deepak Prakash in a press conference held here said that the occasion will be a historic one which will give a new direction to the politics of the state. He said that JVM-P has completed all the necessary process of merger and the central leadership of the BJP has given its consent on the proposal.
He said that party workers from across the state will be gathering at the venue during which they will also welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that to assess the preparations of the programme a review meeting was also held by the party. Mr Prakash said that national vice president Om Prakash Mathur has already reached Ranchi to oversee the preparations for the event.
Despite contesting on all the 81 seats of the Jharkhand Assembly Babulal's party could win only three seats with Marandi himself winning from Dhanwar and Bandhu Tirkey got elected from Mandar ad Pradeep Yadav from Poriyahaat.
As part of the roadmap for the merger, Mr Marandi first dissolves the old working committee of the party and step by step sacked Tirkey and Yadav from the party who were opposed to joining the BJP and wanted to merge the party with Congress thus clearing all the hurdles in way of his homecoming after 14 years.
