Bandhu and Pradeep decide to merge JVM-P with Congress

Ranchi: A rebel group of JVM-P leaders including sacked MLAs Bandhu Tirkey and Pardeep Yadav have announced their decision to merge the party with the Congress.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting which was held at the residence of Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey and was attended by Poriyhaat MLA Pradeep Yadav and other leaders of the party who are against the decision of party supremo Babulal Marandi of merging with the BJP.

Bandhu said that soon he will be holding a meeting with the Congress High Command after which an official date for the merger will be declared. In January both Bandhu Tirkey and Pradeep Yadav had met AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi after which it was speculated that any day they could join the Congress.

After the official entry of these two MLAs in the party fold the number of Congress MLAs in the state will increase to 18. On the other hand, Babulal Marandi had already announced that his party will merge with the BJP on February 17. He had earlier sacked Bandhu Tirkey and Pardeep Yadav from the party accusing them of being involved in anti-party activities.

In the assembly elections which concluded in December 2019, JVM-P had won three seats with Mr Marandi himself winning from Dhanwar and the other two being Tirkey and Yadav.
