Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the press and media have an important role to play in the development of the state, society and country since it was also considered as the fourth pillar of democracy.
Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected office-bearers of the Ranchi Press Club said that from the society point of view also the people related to press and media have had an effective role to play.
He said that there are also many incidents that are brought before the government by the media and asked them to play a constructive role in society.
He said that the Ranchi Press Club was with the media persons and they were working to take the institution further forward.
He congratulated the newly elected office bearers and also extended his best wishes to all those who had voted in these elections.
He hoped that the journalists and staff associated with Ranchi Press Club will work with dedication and make it a model press club in the country.
Hemant said that it was a matter of happiness that while on one hand a new government has been formed in the state, on the other hand, the new committee of the press club has also taken an oath.
He said that if the government and the press club work with dedication in their respective areas than the dream of having a developed Jharkhand can be realized.
The Chief Minister assured that whatever steps will be needed to be taken in the interest of the journalists and make their work easy will be taken by the government.
He said that steps will be taken to further strengthen the press club. The event was also attended by former Lokayukta justice Amreshwar Sahai, MLAs, other distinguished guests.
