National Tribal and Folk Painting camp in Netarhaat from Feb 10-15

Ranchi: The Dr Ram Dayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute will be organising a national tribal and folk painting camp in Netarhaat from February 10-15 in which artists from Kerala to Himachal Pradesh will be participating.

Addressing a press conference here Director of the institute Ranendra Kumar said that it for the first time such an event was being organised in the state where folk artists from length and breadth of the country will be participating and showcasing their works on the canvas.

He said that the event is an effort to bring these painters on a common platform where not only these artisans will come face to each other but will share their skills. He said that apart from Sohrai, Kohbar, Jadopatiya and Petkar style of folk painting from Jharkhand tribal folk painters from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Bengal and Bihar will also showcasing their painting skills.

He said that camp will be inaugurated a senior most painter who will be participating in the event whereas it will come to an end on February 15 in which Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda are likely to participate.

He said that on February 11 the Chhau Artists will be performing during the function will Madhu Mansuri who has been selected for Padamshri will be performing on February 14.
