Saryu demands SIT probe into role of Raghubar and Rajbala in scams of road construction department

Ranchi: Former cabinet minister and MLA from Jamshedpur East Saryu Rai has demanded for a SIT probe into the role of former Chief Minister Raghubar Das and former Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma for their role in the scams which have taken place in the road construction department during the previous government.

In a statement Mr Rai said that Raghubar Das who was the Chief Minister at that time also held the portfolio of the road construction department while Rajbala Verma had served as Secretary of the Road Construction Department and later she went on to become the Chief Secretary of the state.

Mr Rai said that both Raghubar Das and Rajbala Verma are responsible for starting the culture of scam and irregularities in the road construction department, moreover they were also involved in pressurizing the officials and contractors to work against the rules. He demanded that the irregularities in the road construction department should be conducted from January 1, 2014 rather that from January 1, 2016.

He also demanded that the ambit of the probe should also be extended to the building construction and power department. He claimed that on March 11, 2018 itself he had written a letter to the Chief Minister regarding the irregularities in the road construction department while he had handed all the proofs to the secretary of the department concerned on March 28, 2018.

However on whatever objections were raised by him the than government did not take any action due to which the irregularities went on increasing and scams in tenders went on piling, therefore he demanded that a special investigation team should be formed to probe all the scams.
