Delivery of voter slips for first and second phase commenced: CEO

Ranchi: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kripanand Jha said delivery of voter slips has commenced among voters on seats which will go into the polls in the first and second phase of the polls.

Addressing a press conference here he said that if any voter does not get his or her voter slips then they can register their complaints on helpline number 1950. In the first phase on November, 30th polling will be held on 13 seats while in the second phase on December 7 20 seats will go into the polls.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sailesh Kumar Chourasia said that the process of filing of nominations for 1st and 2nd phase are over. He said that in the first phase 189 candidates are in the fray while in the second phase 260 candidates remain in the field.

He said that in the second phase for 20 seats a total of 320 candidates had filed their nomination out of which during scrutiny process nomination of 44 candidates was canceled while another 16 candidates withdrew their nominations.

He said that now for the third phase till November 25th the process of filing of nominations was on while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on the next day.

The candidates can withdraw their nominations till November 28 while voting will be held on December 12.

It was informed that for the 4th phase of elections which will be held on 15 seats on December 16 a total of 7628 ballot and control units will be used along with 7931 VVPATS machines.

The process of randomisation of the EVM was in the last stage and in the 4th phase a total of 47.81 lakh voters will be able to cast their votes on 6101 polling booth
