Criminal cases against 62 per cent of present MLAs of Jharkhand Assembly: ADR Report

Ranchi: The Association for Democratic Reforms in its report has claimed that 62 percent MLAs have criminal cases against them and this finding is based on the affidavit which have been submitted by them.

The findings of the ADR are based on the study of the affidavit of 79 MLAs out of the 81. The affidavits of JMM’s Gomia MLA Babita Devi and that of Ramchandra Chandravanshi was not clear. Polls are scheduled in the state between November 30 to December 20 in five phases while the counting of votes will be held on December 23.

The report also says that according to the affidavit filed by the 81 MLAs 49 of them have given the details of criminal cases leveled against them while 38 MLAs have pointed that they have serious criminal cases leveled against them.

According to the report three MLAs have cases of murder against them and 10 MLAs have given details of an attempt to murder.

Party wise out of 36 MLAs of the BJP 21 have given the details of criminals cases against them and so have 11 MLAs of the JMM, 5 of the Congress and 5 of the JVM(P).

As far as serious allegations are concerned out of 36 MLAs of the BJP 15 have such cases leveled against them, 10 of the JMM, 2 of the Congress and 5 of the JVM(P).

The ADR findings say that among the 79 MLAs 41 MLAs are crorepatis which included 21 of the BJP, 9 of the JMM, 5 from Congress and 3 from JVM(P). The properties of these 79 MLAs on an average was at Rs 1.84 crore.
