City decked up for Diwali celebrations, people indulge in last minute shopping

Ranchi: The entire city is wearing a festive look as the festival of Light is all set to be celebrated across the state on Sunday.

Despite the gloomy and cloudy weather which was coupled with later afternoon showers the spirit of the people did not dampen who turned out in large numbers to indulge in their last-minute shopping as part of preparations for the festival.

Whether it was the Upper Bazaar area, MG road, Harmu or Ratu Road areas a huge rush of the people was seen who indulged in buying decorative items, artifacts, diyas, candles and other decoration items along with statues of Lord Ganesha and Lakshmi who would be worshipped on Sunday across the homes in the evening.

Like the previous years, the business of firecrackers has been hit to a certain extent due to the bad weather conditions due to which fewer people are turning out at the clusters which have been formed for selling the firecrackers. The rains have also hit the organizing of Kali Puja in the city with the various organizing committees still to complete their pandals and idols.

Chinese lantern and candles were once again visible in the market however the people were spotted opting for more Indian stuff.

A rush of the people was also witnessed at the railway stations and the bus stands with people trying to catch up whatever means of transportation available to reach their near and dear ones.
