Chatra: The second installment of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojana was distributed among more than 13 lakh farmer of the state in a state level function held at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium here.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das who was scheduled to address the function could make it to the programme as the incessant rainfall did not allow his helicopter to take off from Ranchi after which Chatra MP Sunil Singh through online mode transferred a sum of Rs 276 crore in the accounts of more than 13 lakh farmers through DBT.
The MP also inaugurated the new constructed subdivision office building. Speaking on the occasion Mr Singh said that it was a proud moment for the people of Chatra as once it was considered to be a hotbed of the maoists and now it is a place to launch schemes in the state.
He said that for the first time such a scheme has been formed through which the farmers are being directly benefitted.
The programme was also addressed by MLAs Jaiprakash Singh Bhokta and Ganesh Ganjhu. A large number of farmers from other districts had also turned up at the venue.
