All licence arms holder directed to submit their weapons by November 5th

Ranchi: The Ranchi district administration has commenced its preparation to conduct peaceful and fear-free elections of the Vidhan Sabha as part of which district electoral officer cum DC Rai Mahimpet Ray has issued in order according to which all the licence arm holders have been directed to submit their arms till November 5th.

These arms would be submitted in the police station of the area concerned or in the authorised arms dealer shop. Mr Ray has directed all the police station incharge that they should prepare a list of licence arms owner in their area and make sure that they deposit their weapons and has also instructed them to submit a report in this regard to the DC SSP and ADM law and order.

During the Lok Sabha elections, there were a total of 3312 licence arms holder in Ranchi whose numbers has now decreased to 3260 as licence of 52 arms have been rejected due to various reasons whereas process was also on to reject the licence of few others during the Lok Sabha elections.

More than 400 people had not submitted their weapons who are being served notices and the DC has clearly said that those who would not be some meeting their arms against them as per the rule action would be taken and either their licence would be suspended or cancelled.

However, if someone needed to keep the arms for security reason then they should give the right reasons in their application to the officials concerned. The committee headed by the DC will take a decision over this. During the Lok Sabha election, 320 Institutions and licence holders were allowed to keep their arms.
