10.44 lakh poor provided homes by government: Raghubar

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the state government was working to uplift the standard of living of the common people and expressed satisfaction over the fact that the government was able to provide homes for the needy.

Addressing a function organized at the old jail premises here he laid the foundation for the various schemes and said that in the state only politics has taken place in the name of the poor but nobody has paid attention towards providing them with the basic amenities of the life.

He said that the present government understood the pain of the poor and made efforts and he was happy with the fact that the government was able to fulfill the aspirations of the people. Mr Das said that the state government was working to provide homes to all the homeless by the year 2022.

The Chief Minister who inaugurated a total of 180 homes constructed under PMAY said that in the premises a community hall will be constructed where social activities will be held.

He said that the central government was working with the target to provide all with pucca homes by the year 2024 whereas the state government has set a target for itself to provide roof over the homeless by the year 2022.

He said that after 2014 in the urban areas so far 1.88 lakh homes have been constructed while under Birsa Munda Awas Yojana for the primitive tribes 11,000 pucca homes, 9680 homes for the fishermen, 23850 homes under Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana for the widow have been constructed whereas in the rural areas for the poor 8.11 lakh homes have been constructed taking the overall figure to 10.44 lakh in the last four and half years.
