Dumka: In a joint operation conducted by the district police and SSB huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from Sarkhi Pahad located at Gopikandar Block of this district.
Addressing the press Dumka SP YS Ramesh said that in wake of the upcoming assembly elections a special team of the district police and SSB led by ASP Operations Ratin Chandra Mishra was constituted which conducted raids in the area which falls under Kathikund and Gopikandar Police Station areas.
He said that police had received a tip off that on the directions of zonal commander of the CPI (Maoists) Vijay Da alias Nandlal Manjhi the ultras had stored huge cache or arms and ammunition to create damage during the Vidhan Sabha polls which was recovered by the police personnel. Mr Ramesh said that since the explosives were very sensitive therefore they were destroyed on the spot.
The items recovered included 151 cartridges of different guns, codex wire 6 meters, three can bombs of five kilograms each, electronic detonators 100 pieces, uniforms and naxal literature.
