Govt spending Rs 35,000 crore to improve power supply in Jharkhand: Raghubar Das

Bokaro (By our Correspondent): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the state government was spending a sum of Rs 35,000 crore to improve the electricity supply system in the state out of which Rs 20,000 crore was being spent for rural electrification works while the remaining Rs 15,000 crore were being utilized for construction of grids in the state. 

Addressing a function organised in Petarwar High School grounds here during which he declared Bokaro as the second completely electrified district of the state. On the occasion, he also laid foundation stones and inaugurated schemes worth a total of Rs 571 crore and said that by 2021 Jharkhand would be self-sufficient in the area of power and said that with the help of the people of the state government has drawn a big line of development in the power sector. The Chief Minister said that out of 30 lakh homes which were without power the state government has provided power in 23 lakh homes and the work which could not be done in the 67 years has been completed by his government in just three and a half years while in 247 far-flung villages which are inhabited by the tribals they have been lit up with solar power.

He said that it was the first occasion after Independence that 80 grids are being constructed in the state while in the previous 67 years only 38 grids were built in Jharkhand, he said adding that Patratu Power Plant has a capacity of 4000 MW is also being constructed and by June 2019 the power system in the state will be far better and announced that on November 15 another five districts will be declared completely electrified. The Chief Minister said that the government was working with a plan to provide separate feeders for the industrial use, farmers and for the common people and they would be provided power as per their requirement. He said that in Jharkhand Tilka Manjhi agriculture scheme will also be launched. M Das said that the state would also be declared ODF by November 15 and asked the people to make joint efforts for maintaining cleanliness and good health.
