Former Dhanbad MP AK Roy no more, last rites with full state honors today

Dhanbad: Three-time former Dhanbad MP and Marxist thinker AK Roy passed away at the Central Hospital of BCCL here at the age of 85. Arun Kumar Roy or AK Roy or popularly known as Rai Da among his followers was grappling various old age-related ailments and was admitted at the Central Hospital on July 8.

The doctors treating him at the hospital said that AK Roy breathed his last 11.15 hours. As the death of his news spread people from all walks of life started gathering at the hospital to pay their tributes to the leader.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren and AJSU supremo Sudesh Kumar Mahto also offered their condolence over the passing away of the leader. Many other political heavyweights of politics in Koylanchal area including Dhanbad MP PN Singh, MLA Raj Sinha, Giridih MP Chandraprakash Chowdhary and Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto also reached to pay their tributes.

Sitting MCC MLA from Sindri Arup Chatterjee was among the first to reach the hospital after hearing the news of his demise. Chief Minister Raghubar Das has ordered that his cremation will be done with full state honors at the banks of the Damodar river at Mohalbani.

His body was kept in the central office of the party for the night and Monday morning it will be brought to Nunudih and kept at Shaheed Comrade Budhraj Chatterjee Maidan were last respects will be paid to him by all the leaders after which his body will be taken for its final journey.
