Jharkhand demands five new degree colleges

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

In the meeting, the chief minister urged to provide funds for 5 new model colleges under National Higher Education program and said that currently 13 degree colleges which are run under Rusa should be upgraded into model colleges and to new vocational colleges should be opened over which the Union Minister assured to have positive thinking.

The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that the state government will be bringing a proposal in the upcoming assembly session to open a Sanskrit University in Deoghar over which Mr Nishank said that the centre would be providing a grant to that University.

Mr Das also pointed that there has been a long pending demand in Jharkhand to open a tribal University and urged that a branch of the tribal University currently being operated in Amarkantak of Madhya Pradesh be started in Jharkhand over which the Union Minister gave his approval.

It was also decided that on 107 acres of land homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana would be constructed and poor who are living in the slums on the land of the HEC would be rehabilitated.

The central government has also agreed to give approval to the NOC for opening up of a commercial pilot training institute in Dumka and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has directed to take a decision on this issue on July 16th.
