People set a dozen vehicle on fire, 1 injured in firing as people protest against pollution of coal outsourcing firm in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: All hell broke loose in Bhouran of Eastern Jharia area of the BCCL as people protesting against the air pollution caused by the outsourcing firm were fired upon by the guards of the company in which a person sustained serious injuries. Miffed over the firing incident the locals attacked the camp office of outsourcing firm AT Deva Prabha and set on fire more than a dozen vehicles. People have also blocked roads at several locations in the area including on the Bhouran-Jharia main road by burning tyres.

Post the incident a large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area. Dhanbad Rural SP Aman Kumar who too reached on the spot told the media that some trucks were set on fire which have been doused by the fire brigade. He said that all those who are involved in this illegal act fir would be registered against them and they would be arrested. The SP said that the situation was under control.

The agitators also attacked on the vehicle of the Sindri DSP and PCR van in which the windows were broken and also indulged on stone pleting on the police. Police resorted to Lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

Locals said that they had gathered outside the company gate demanding that to reduce the air pollution water should be regularly sprinkled in the area however the guards of the outsourcing firm opened fire in which a person received injuries and things blew out of order
