Ranchi: Contrary to the claims of the Jharkhand Congress which had said that Rahul Gandhi’s rally would also turn out to be a show of strength of the opposition unity in Jharkhand but in reality only Babulal Marandi of the JVM(P) was present on the occasion while JMM’s Hemant Soren gave the function a miss. Instead, the JMM was represented by its senior leader and former deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi. What also came as a surprise that even Jharkhand RJD chief and former minister Annapurna Devi was also not present in the event and the party was represented by Ramchandra Singh.
Despite Congress leaders of the state unit claiming to have invited the leaders of the left parties in the state to share the dais none of them were present at the venue. However, since the rally was first for Mr. Gandhi after taking over the command of the party the event was attended in large number by the sitting MLAs and MPs of the party along with former MPs and MLAs who made a bee-line to meet their leader outside the venue.
Those present on the occasion also included former Union Minister and in charge for party affairs in Jharkhand RPN Singh, Madhya Pradesh Minister and co-in charge for party affairs Umang Singhar, JPCC chief Dr. Ajay Kumar, Leader of Legislature wing of the Congress party Aalamgir Aalam, former Union Ministers Subodhkant Sahai and Rameshwar Oraon and many more.
