Speaker says house should be closed if not able to take decision for benefit of people

Ranchi: Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon raised questions over the functioning of the state government over the JPSC row and in an emotional note said that there was no point running the house when it is not able to take a decision in the interests of the people.

Intervening during the debate when MLAs of the ruling and benches unanimously demanded that the 6th JPSC exams be cancelled he said he was well aware of his limitations but on the other side was also aware of the seriousness of the issue and he has himself diverted from the league and has allowed all members to the speak over the issue which may not be liked by some MLAs of the ruling benches and pointed that when for the last four years the issue of JPSC has not been solved than it means that there are certain problems. He said that while always the issue of JPSC was being brought to the house while there are so many other departments and organizations.

Mr. Oraon said that it was beyond his understanding that while on one hand examinations were being held while on other hand, the matter was being heard in the court. Mr . Oraon said that the matter was a serious issue. The speaker said that those involved in the examination process should not be part of the examination process and commented that the level of the house has also decreased. “When the house is not able to decisions in the interest of the people than the house should be closed,”.

Later addressing the press outside the assembly Leader of the Opposition Hemant Soren said that it was better for the speaker to resign from his post and even asked the Chief Minister Raghubar Das to resign and pave the way for elections in the state. He said that massive corruption has taken place in JPSC and the government should immediately cancel the exams and conduct a probe into the wrong doings.
