Jharkhand Tribal Festival: Through series of seminars attempts made to explore the sensibilities of literature, history & future

Ranchi: On the occasion of World Tribal Day while cultural programs were being organized in Morhabadi Ground in the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute, experts of tribal languages, culture and traditions were busy explaining the various aspects of Tribal life through a series of seminars. Scholars from different states and different districts told about the importance of tribes in the development of mankind.

In the program, experts of tribal traditions gave their lectures on different topics from different forums. About how the tribal community has an unbreakable relationship with the mountains, rivers and forests they kept their points from the stage with different
aspects of literature.

On this occasion, from Prayagraj Prof Janardan Gond, Kavita Karmakar (Assam), Santosh Kumar Sonkar, Binod Kumar (Kalyan, Mumbai), Dinkar Kumar (Guwahati), Arun Kumar Oraon (JNU, New Delhi), Hemant Dalpati (Odisha), Santa Nayak (Karnataka), Rudra Charan Manjhi (Bihar), Dr Devmet Minjh (Chhattisgarh), Kusum Madhuri Toppo, Mahadev Toppo and scholars of literature like Parvati Tirkey (Ranchi) shared their view about tribal literature. 

In the seminar organized on Tribal Anthropology, the importance of tribe in the development of mankind was told. Speakers said that people study tribal society for themselves, whereas it should be for the development of those tribes. This word tribe has also been given to them by others. Do they like to call themselves tribes or not. The speakers said that earlier the entire village used to have land but today the land has been privatized.

The speakers pointed out that there is a need to re-read the tribal movements as people don’t know about them. They talked about adding GI tag to the things manufactured by the tribal group so that they can get a fair price for their material.

In the seminar Professor Subhadra Channa, Professor HC Bahera, Gyatso Lepcha Dr Kanato G Chophy (online) , Dr Avitoli G (Online), Dr. Meenakshi Munda, Dr Achana Mungeleng and scholars from different states and different districts told the audience the importance of tribe in the development of mankind. Seminar on Tribal History was organized at Tribal Research Institute in which Eminent speakers participated in it and gave information about tribal history.

In the Tribal History Seminar, Professor Vinita Damodaran gave information about the contribution of tribals to the global environment. He said that tribals are nature worshippers and are always ready for the protection of water, forest and land. Professor Sangeeta Das Gupta told about Rewriting Indigenous History.

At the same time, Dr Rahul Ranjan from US told about the biography of Birsa Munda and his contribution in the perspective of Jharkhand through an online medium. Many dignitaries were present in the Tribal History Seminar organized at Tribal Research Institute Morhabadi on the occasion of the Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2022.

In the seminar on Tribal Philosophy Dr Gomti Bodra threw light on tribal philosophy. She said that the social and cultural values of the tribes can be well understood only through the study of tribal philosophy. On this occasion, Dr Aisa Gautam, Dr Santosh Kindo, Professor Mrinal Miri and Prof Sujatha Miri also shared their thoughts.
