Ranchi: State BJP’s ST Morcha president and Khijri MLA Ramkumar Pahan said that on January 23 more than 50,000 tribals would be
participating in a pad yatra programme to honor and pay respect towards the great martyrs and revolutionaries of the state.
Addressing the press at the BJP headquarters here he said on that day the mud which has been collected from ‘jaher-sthan’
‘sarna-sthals and other sacred places including the mud from the villages of the martyrs will be brought to the Morhabadi grounds.
From where a pad yatra will be taken out to the Old Jail Premises where the mud would be handed over to build the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
He said that Chief Minister Raghubar Das himself would lead this pad yatra programme in which the cabinet ministers, MPs and MLAs of the party would also be present along with thousands of tribals who would be dressed in their traditional attire and carry their musical instruments with them. He said that traditional heads including the Manki-Munda, Dakua, Pahra Raja will also be part of the pad yatra programme.
Mr Pahan also attacked the Jharkhand named parties including the Hemant Soren led JMM and Babulal Marandi’s JVM(P) for not doing anything for the betterment of the tribals and just using them for vote-bank politics. He said that it was Chief Minister Raghubar Das who formed the ST commission in the state while the same was not done earlier despite Mr Soren and Marandi also getting an opportunity to serve as the Chief Minister of the state.
