Cabinet approves Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana, scheme to cover 36.57 lakh families

Ranchi: In its first cabinet meeting for the New Year the state government has approved the Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana under which 36,57,323 families would be benefitted. The main purpose of the scheme is to encourage women empowerment, encourage
girls to study further and end child marriages. 

Under these schemes following the data of the Socio-Economic census (rural) of 2011 the number of identified families which included 27,46,106 and all Antodaya card holder families whose number as on December 21, 2019 is 9,11,217 would be covered under the scheme.

Under the Yojana following the birth of a girl till age 2 a sum of Rs 5000 would be given after she takes admissions in class 1 another Rs 5000 would be given. When the girl will pass class 5 another sum of Rs 5000 would be given and similarly after she passes classes 8th, 10th and 12th a sum of Rs 5000 would be given. Further when the girl becomes adult and remains unmarried till 18-20 years an additional sum of Rs 10,000 would be given. 

The state government has approved a proposal to provide mobile phones for the farmers during the fiscal 2018-19 under this scheme in the first phase farmers who have registered themselves on the e-namm portal would be provided mobile phones on a priority basis which at present includes 21,878 farmers who would be given the mobile phones in the first phase. The cabinet also passed a proposal worth Rs 1169.28 crore for carrying out water works to provide water for drinking and irrigation needs as per requirement worth Rs 1169.28 crore.

The government also approved from retrospective effect the (SC/ST and OBC) Act 2001 related to appointment in government posts and vacancies in accordance with the reservation procedure. It also approved a decision to provide travel allowance to physically handicapped government officials (blind and divyang in the lower half of the body and deaf).

The government also approved a sum of Rs 155.42 crore to undertake the remaining works of the multipurpose drinking water supply scheme in Littipada and other villages of the area which would be executed under NRWDP. Further, the cabinet also approved to Sine Die the winter session of Jharkhand Assembly from December 24 to December 27.
