6th JPSC row: High Court keeps order reserved

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday kept its order reserved over the 6th JPSC row.

Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan on behalf of the state government told the court that the state government agreed with the decision of the single bench. Senior lawyer of Supreme Court Prashant Bhushan appeared on behalf of the successful candidates. On behalf of JPSC, advocate Sanjay Pipalwal, Shubhashish Soren and senior advocates Ajit Kumar, Sumit Gadodia, Aparajita Bharadwaj and Kumari Sugandha appeared before the court on behalf of the candidates.

After hearing all the parties, the court of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad kept their decision reserved. Now all eyes will be on the decision of the Jharkhand High Court as the future of many youths will rest on its verdict. The appeal petition of the applicant Shishir Tigga and others was also listed in the cause list released for hearing. The applicants have appealed for the cancellation of the order of the Single Bench.

In this case, a caveat has already been filed before the High Court by the candidates who have filed a petition in the Single Bench. An appeal has been filed on behalf of the selected candidates in the Sixth JPSC Examination against the order of the Single Bench in the Sixth JPSC case. In the petition filed by the petitioners including the applicant Shishir Tigga, a request has been made to set aside the order of the Single Bench of the High Court as wrong.

It has been said in the petition that it is correct to add the marks of Paper One (Hindi and English) to the total score in the main examination of the sixth JPSC. On this basis, JPSC had released the merit list after the main examination and here is nothing wrong with this. So far, no appeal has been filed by the state government and JPSC against the order of the single bench.

The Single Bench of the High Court had given its decision on the petitions challenging the results of the Sixth Combined Civil Services Competitive Examination taken by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi of Jharkhand High Court, while canceling the merit list of the sixth JPSC had instructed the state government to prepare a fresh merit list in eight weeks. The verdict of the single bench was challenged by the successful candidates in the double bench of the high court.
