Ranchi (By our correspondent): A meeting of the state election committee of the BJP was held here at the party headquarters which was also attended by Chief Minister Raghubar Das and state organization general secretary Dharmpal Singh. Addressing the press after the end of the meeting state general secretary of the party Deepak Prakash said the committee has authorized Chief Minister Raghubar Das, state unit chief and MP Laxman Giluwa and party’s organization secretary Dharmpal Singh to take the final decision in this regard.
He said that these three leaders with the approval of the central leadership of the BJP will finalize the name of the candidate. Mr. Prakash said that in the meeting a total of 11 probable names were taken for consideration and discussion were also held to ensure the victory of the party in the polls. He said that the party would be contesting these bypolls in the name of development and said that all opposition parties have their own vested agendas and are not worried about the welfare of the people. He said that no matter whether the opposition fights untidily or go their separate ways BJP is not at all worried.
Mr. Prakash said JMM does not have faith over its party’s candidate or workers of the organization, therefore, it has decided to support an outsider in the poll while Congress was not making claims to contest the polls but was indulging in bargaining. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has announced that the party would extend support to Jharkhand party nominee Menan Ekka for the bypolls to the Kolibera seat of the state assembly voting for which is scheduled on December 20.
The by-polls for the seat was necessitated after a Simdega court awarded life imprisonment to Kolibera MLA and former minister Enos Ekka on July 3 in connection with the murder of a para teacher Manoj Kumar and subsequently Mr. Ekka lost the membership of the house.
