SUV laden with illegal liquor seized in Ranchi, 3 arrested with arms

Ranchi: In a joint operation conducted on Sunday by the district police and Sleuths of the excise department a four-wheeler full of illegal liquor and three men involved in the smuggling of liquor have been arrested.

From the arrested a rifle, a revolver and a double-barrel gun along with 8 live cartridges, 2 magazines, 3 vehicles including a couple of SUVs and a scooty and Rs 71,950 in cash have been recovered.

The arrested have been identified as Sanjeet Kumar, Jeetendra Kumar Rai and Santosh Pathak, all from Ranchi.

Following a tip-off a joint team of the district police and excise department swung into action and reached at the ring road where Sanjeet Kumar who was coming on a scooty was nabbed from Daladali. On the information provided by Sanjeet a black coloured SUV was seized which was full of illegal liquor and the mastermind of the trade who was following behind in a White SUV was also later chased and caught.
