CM orders ACB probe into a Rs 200 cr scam in Dhanbad Municipal Corporation

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered for a probe by the Anti Corruption Bureau in the Rs 200 crore estimate scam committed in the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.

Under the funds of the 14th finance commission 40 roads were approved in Dhanbad Municipal Corporation but in many roads lack of quality in construction work was reported and several other complaints were also registered.

Out of these 40 roads for 27 roads the estimates were made by the officials of the municipal corporation itself and no consultancy fee was given to anyone. On the other hand for 13 roads which included the construction of drains, installation of LED lights, use of paver blocks etc the estimate was made by M/S Mass and Void which had put the estimate of these road projects at Rs 156.33 crore but while preparing the DPR for these projects the designs were not submitted and many technical provisions were also violated.

Further, the Chief Minister has also ordered a probe into all the tenders which were awarded and issued by the Water Resources Department in the last three years. The probe will be conducted by a high level committee which has been directed to complete the probe by June 30,2020.

The high level committee to conduct the probe would be similar to those which has been constituted to probe irregularities in road construction department and is being headed by the Development Commissioner.

The committee will probe into the rates of the tenders and will also into the process of finalisation of the contracts and if any flaw is found than further action will be initiated.
