Amphan makes presence felt as Kolhan and Santhal Pargana affected

Ranchi: The extremely severe  cyclonic storm Amphan made its presence felt in Jharkhand also as many districts of Kolhan and Santhal Pargana reported rainfall and high wind speed.

Since Tuesday night itself many of the districts had reported rainfall and drizzle while Wednesday morning turned out to be cloudy and windy. The rainfall did brought some relief to the people who had been battling very high temperatures for the last few days.

In the Kolhan and Santhal Pargana division wind speed to the tune of 40 kilometres has been recorded while the state capital of Ranchi also witnessed rainfall throughout the day though it was not brisk.

Districts like Simdega and Chaibasa which are near to Odisha along with Jamshedpur saw downpour since the morning itself.

Director of the Ranchi MET Department Dr SD Kotal said that Jharkhand will not see a major impact due to the cyclone but rainfall will take place and wind speed will remain higher. The MET has said that from Thursday onwards the temperature might increase while at one or two places scanty rainfall will also take place.

The administration of East Singhbhum district as precautionary measures has cancelled leaves of all the staff and other personnel of the power department. Further people in low lying areas have been asked to remain alert.
