CM chairs high level meeting to assess preparations in wake of return of trapped workers

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a high level meeting with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials of the administration to assess the preparations in wake of further course of action to be taken as return of workers has commenced.

He said that the returning of the people will continue till all the trapped farmers, workers, students and tourists come back. During the meeting it was informed that within 24 hours of approval of process of return arrangements were made and while on one hand 1200 workers are coming back from Hyderabad on the other hand workers of West Bengal have been sent in buses and those buses will bring back workers of Jharkhand in return. He detailed the cabinet colleagues regarding steps being taken to tackle Coronavirus and also collected their suggestions.

The Chief Minister said that 2883 students of Jharkhand are trapped in Kota who would be brought back in two special trains. He said that the state government has also commenced preparations to bring back the students who are trapped in other states and also the people who had gone for treatment to Vellore and soon they too would be brought back.

Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh said that in the first phase 34,000 workers trapped in Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and some areas of Madhya Pradesh will be brought back as a list has been prepared and after that process will commence to bring the workers who are trapped in far off states. Moreover where less number of workers are trapped efforts will be made to bring them by plane.

Mr Singh said that for inter state and inter district travel instructions have been given to the concerned officials and those who would want to come back in their own vehicles they would be issued pass by the concerned districts and incase of any problem they can contact the state government. Moreover people in the state who are trapped in other districts they can also come back to their home district by taking pass from the DC.

In the meeting it was informed that arrangements of test, food and lodging arrangements are being made for all the workers and students who would be coming back. During the medical test those who would be found fit they would be sent home and those who fight be suspected of being infected they would be sent to Covid hospital or put into home quarantine as per need.

The Chief Minister said that with the return of workers challenges will increase in the state and giving employment to them would be a big challenge. He said that detailed work plans are being finalised to provide them with work in rural and urban areas and assessment of industries was being made. He said that the government will take steps so that 75 percent locals get jobs in industries and said that efforts will be made to utilise the full potential of the state so that not only jobs are generated for locals but also for outsiders.

The Chief Minister said that budget of Mnrega would be increased and new schemes will be included while the Centre would be urged to increase the wages under Mnrega. He said that the government was also serious over treatment of other diseases as part of which tele medicine facilities has been started through which patients can consult the doctors.

Principal Secretary of Health Department said that since most of the private hospitals and nursing homes are closed therefore treatment of patients suffering from other ailments was not taking place but the private hospital operators have been asked to open their hospitals or else their registration would be cancelled.

He said that in the state 34 containment zones have been identified while Ranchi was in red zone and other 10 districts in the orange zone and remaining in green zone. He said that every day 800-900 samples were being tested.
