Ranchi in list of red zone districts, 9 others in orange, others in green: Health Secretary

Ranchi: Out of the 24 districts of Jharkhand Ranchi was in the list of districts in the red zone, 9 others were in orange zone and the remaining in green zone.

Addressing a press conference here Health Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said that as per the directions of the central government if no case is reported from districts in orange zone in 21 days than they would be put into green zone.

He said that in the state so far 33 containment zones have been marked out of which 15 are in Ranchi and in these containment zone provisions of lockdown was being strictly implemented and no one in these areas was being allowed to go in or come out. He said that the health department was taking all possible steps to check the spread of Coronavirus in the state and said that in the state sufficient numbers of face masks and PPE kits are available which have been also given in the districts.

He said that stock of these items has been also kept at centre so that they can be supplied at the time of the need. Mr Kulkarni said that at present in the state tests was being done at 4 places and construction of labs in three government colleges was on which would be soon completed while ICMR is also giving the approval to conduct Covid-19 tests in some of the private labs and people who want to get their test conducted can do that. He said that there are 84 active patients of Covid-19 in the state whereas the death rate was 2.80 percent. He said that the state at present has 206 ventilator beds.

Secretary of Disaster Management Department Amitabh Kaushal said that following the directions of the centre the state government was also making preparations to bring back the people trapped outside and as per the new guidelines arrangements are being made. He said that since buses would not be sufficient to bring back the trapped men, therefore, request had been made to run some special trains however such states which share their borders with Jharkhand there buses can be sent and preparations are being also made in this regard.

He said that the state governments were establishing coordination with one another so that buses from Jharkhand will take the trapped people of that state and on return will bring back people of Jharkhand. He said that once the people return their screening will be done and if needed they would be put into home quarantine or facility quarantine and only after finishing their quarantine period they would be allowed to go home.
