Tata Group has set a benchmark for serving the people before the world: Das

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das asked the corporate houses to learn from the community services of the Tata Group and said that the benchmark which has been set by the company for working for the betterment of the people is an example for the entire world. Addressing a function organised at Kadma Maidan in Sukurhutu of Ranchi where he
jointly laid the foundation with Ratan Tata Chairman of the Tata Trust to construct Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research center he thanked the Tata Group and Chairman of Tata Trust Ratan Tata for fulfilling the long pending demand of the 3.25 crore people of Jharkhand who wanted a state of the art cancer hospital in the state.

He said that 80 percent of the profit earned by the Tata Sons is spread on the welfare of the people and other corporate house does that. “The benchmark which has been set by the Tata Group for community service is an example for the world,” he said adding that for other industrial houses profit is their own money.

Recalling the doctrine of Jamshed Ji Tata Mr Das said that he was the one to gave the concept of giving back to the society as the money earned by the company was from the people. He said that the century old tradition has been still continued by the group and the other industrial houses should learn from them. He said that he too is a part of the Tata Family where he worked as a worker. The Chief Minister said that when the nation was struggling to get its Independence from the British Rule at that time visionary Jamshed Ji Tata was talking about taking the nation forward and answering the economic issues post Independence and his dream was executed by Dorab Ji Tata and his team. He recalled that when Lady Meherbai Tata passed away due to cancer at the age of 50 Dorab Ji decided to set up a cancer hospital which came up in Mumbai in 1941 and was also set up in Jamshedpur and was also working in other areas of the country to set up similar institutions.

Mr. Das said that after taking over as the Mukhya Sewak of the state he had urged Mr. Tata to open a cancer hospital in the state and in the first step foundation has been laid today and after two years no one from Jharkhand will need to go outside to get the treatment of cancer done.
