Rainfall and hailstorm create havoc in state, weather likely to remain similar on Wednesday

Ranchi: Once again the weather in the state took a U-turn as a result of which the many districts of the state were battered with hailstorm and rain due to which the chill was once again back to hurt the people.

Among the districts, Palamu witnessed the maximum hailstorm as a result of which a sheet of white spread over the hills and even the local Koyel river.

Apart from the district headquarters of Medninagar in other blocks of the district including Patan, Chainpur, Satbarwa, Lesligunj the early morning sky got covered with dark clouds which lead to heavy downpour and hailstorm due to which life in the rural and the urban areas came to standstill.

In the state capital Ranchi also the morning started with heavy showers but later the skies got clear for a few hours. However, the calmness in the weather was short-lived as the late afternoon sky once again got filled with dark clouds which resulted in a heavy downpour which threw life completely out of gear in the city.

If the reports of the Weatherman are to be believed than similar conditions will prevail on Wednesday with wind speed likely to remain between 30-40 kilometers per hour whereas in Palamu and some other districts heavy downpour has been predicted and a yellow warning has been issued for such districts.

Due to the bad weather, the people are in very less number out on the streets and even the markets are wearing a deserted look. In wake of the heavy damage caused by a hailstorm in Palamu DC Shantanu Kumar Agrahari visited the impacted villages to make an assessment of the loss incurred.

The hailstorm and rains have also destroyed many kuccha homes in the district while massive damage has been caused to crops and vegetables.
