Giridih: In the last one week in Fakira Pahari village of Sariya block and Gadikala of Deori Block of this district so far 14 people have lost their lives over some 'mysterious reasons'.
However, the villagers of two villages have blamed the consumption of spurious liquor behind the death of the person. A team of the health department today sent a couple of bodies for post-mortem as after that only the real reasons for the death will be ascertained.
On the other hand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed Giridih DC to conduct a probe into the happenings of these two villages and take necessary action. Today in Fakira Pahali village one Duleshwar Turi (50) died whose body was sent for post-mortem by the officials of the health department.
On Saturday three people had lost their lives in the village, on February 13 two people had died while on February 12 and 14 one-person each had died. The kin of the deceased who passed away before Saturday performed their last rites due to which the post-mortem could not be done.
Meanwhile in Gadikala village of Deori block between February 10-16 a total of six people have lost their lives. On his part Giridih Civil Surgeon Awadesh Kumar Sinha said that the health department is on an alert mode post the deaths in these two villages and suspected that spurious liquor might be one of the reasons.
A district-level health team which reached the villages conducted an examination of the people and also distributed medicines among them and collected their blood samples. In their interaction with the people, the team found that all those who lost their lives initially complained of burning sensation in the chest which was followed by stomach ache ultimately leading to the death of the person.
