Ranchi: In a rare instance which caught many by surprise a mother and her daughter got married under the same roof as part of a mass marriage function which was organised by a social organisation in the state capital.
Social organisation Nimith had organised the mass wedding ceremony in which 150 pairs tied the knot. Among them were several couples who were for the last many years living in a live-in however due to lack of money they could not get married.
All eyes in this ceremony where on Mother Parmi Devi (50) and her daughter Kalawati who got married in the same function with their respective partners. A total of 12 couples from Sanga village from where mother-daughter hailed tied knot in the function.
The couples who got married during the ceremony also hailed from different religions while some married under Hindu rituals, for others the Pahan performed the wedding as per the customs of the tribals while a father was also present to conduct the marriage ceremony under Christianity rituals.
