Husband and wife severely beaten in panchayat over alleged practice of witchcraft

Hazaribagh: A couple was severely beaten in Chichikala village under Churchu Police Station area of this district over the allegations of practicing witchcraft following which they were admitted at the Sadar Hospital.

The victims Sunil Tudu and his wife Sunita Murmu were beaten by their nephew and other relatives in the presence of panchayat representatives.

The nephew of the couple Shahdeo Tudu alleged that due to their witchcraft his wife had died while the victims claimed that the woman had died due to illness.

Later police was informed which has registered a complaint against 7 named accused in the case. The son of the couple has also given a written complaint demanding justice. On the other hand police claimed that the statement of the couple has been recorded and action will be taken against the guilty.
