Economy of the country is in incompetent hands says P Chidambaram

Ranchi: Former Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government over the present economic scenario of the country and claimed that the economy was in deep trouble as it was in incompetent hands.

Addressing a press conference at JPCC headquarters here a day before the state votes in the second phase of elections on 20 seats he urged to the people to remain focussed on the 81 MLAs who would be going into the assembly rather than being bogged down over the happenings of Kerala, Maharashtra or Meghalaya.

“The economy is in deep trouble...and deep should be spelled as deeeep 2 times,” he said adding that in February 2019 the RBI had project the growth rate to be 7.4 percent which in the last 10 months has reduced to 5 percent. He said that never before such thing has happened when the RBI has lowered its growth projection within ten months to five percent and claimed that the economy of the country will further tank downwards as it was in incompetent hands.

He said that if the economy of the country if rises than the economy of other states including Maharashtra, Kerala will also rise rapidly and so will the economy of Jharkhand however when the sinks than for a poor state like Jharkhand it will sink further as the economy of Jharkhand was in ‘more incompetent hands’.

He said that Jharkhand’s growth rate is two percent below the national average whereas as per the per capita income in the country was concerned it has fallen to the 30th position which was earlier at 28th position which means under Chief Minister Raghubar Das Jharkhand has slipped two-place further.
