Jharkhand Congress ‘ghearo’ CBI office in Ranchi

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Under the banner of the Youth Congress senior party leaders staged a gherao before the CBI headquarters in Ranchi accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being involved in corruption. 

Hundreds of Congress workers led by JPCC chief Dr Ajay Kumar took out a procession from the JPCC headquarters and carrying ply cards indulged in slogan shouting against the central government. Later the procession reached the CBI office where they staged a dharna and also raised slogans.

Addressing the dharna Dr Kumar said that to influence the CBI probe in Rafael deal and those related to Mehul Choksi, Neerav Modi and Vijay Mallya the director of CBI was transferred and in the manner in which two senior officials of the CBI officials were transferred appears that something was wrong in the case. He said that there is a difference between what the Prime Minister says and what he does and said that the manner in which Rakesh Asthana has been accused of giving Rs 20 crore to BJP fund from the police fund is a matter of shame for the entire police system. He said that as part of a planned conspiracy in the entire country attack is happening on constitutional institutions and those who raise their voices are being punished.

Former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahai said that during UPA rule organizations like CBI was given full Independence and said that the Prime Minister to prevent the truth from coming out in open not only hijacked the system but has raised questions over the entire organization. 

Those present in the agitation also included party MLAs Geeta Koda, Dr Irfan Ansari, former MPs Pradeep Kumar
Balmuchu, Tilakdhari Singh and others.
