Ranchi (By our correspondent): Governor Draupadi Murmu stressed the need to strike a proper balance between Industrial development and environment for which concrete and serious efforts are needed to be made.

Addressing the national conference on National Environmentalists Association India organised at the St Xavier's College here she said that apart from the focus on the need of building industries efforts should also be made for stopping the pollution from the industrial houses and there was a need to look at waste management and the passing of drainage water.

She said that with every day rising population and to fulfil their requirements it was important that industrial development takes place and modes of transportation are increased however in the similar ratio plantation drive should also be undertaken. She also expressed her concern over the declining water table and said that for work is needed to be done for the protection of the environment.

Ms Murmu said that apart from the human even birds are facing environmental problems mainly on account of different reasons including cutting of trees and even many species of animals have become extinct which raises a serious question over the ecological balance point of view.

She said that it was indeed unfortunate that rivers like Ganga have become polluted and even in Jharkhand rivers like Damodar and Swarnarekha are polluted and their water is also not clean and in this direction apart from the government other stakeholders also needed to work under the CSR head.

The governor said that Jharkhand has been blessed by mother nature and is full of natural and scenic beauty which needed to be protected by all and said that it was the responsibility of all the human beings to protect the environment along with the development.
